Tip: Keep your bathroom mirrors from fogging.

Does your morning shower fog your bathroom mirrors? Tired of waiting for them to clear before you can finish getting ready in the morning?

Well we have the solution for you. It's quick & easy to do. First, make sure the mirror is clean, you can use any type or brand of glass cleaner. Second, take a bottle of Rain-X Anti-Fog(can be purchased at any local auto parts store), a clean paper towel, pour some Rain-X Anti-Fog to the paper towel & apply it liberally to the mirror. You may want to apply 2 coats, let it dry & your ready to go. Depending on your shower use it should last 1-2 weeks before another application is needed.

Then apply as directed to the glass shower doors RainX Glass Treatment, yes the same stuff you use on your car's windshield. RainX Glass Treatment is formulated with a transparent polymer that fills the microscopic pores of glass with hydrophobic molecules that force rain, sleet and snow to bead-up and roll off. NINE WAYS TO LOWER YOUR AUTO INSURANCE COSTS

You may not realize it, but the insurance rates you pay for your car can vary dramatically depending on the insurance company, agent or broker. You choose, the coverage you need and the kind of car you drive. Listed below are a number of things you can do, right now to lower your insurance costs.

#1. COMPARISON SHOP
Prices for the same coverage can vary by hundreds ofdollars, so it pays to shop around. Ask your friends, check the yellow pages or call your state insurance department. You can also check consumer guides, insurance agents or companies. This will give you an idea of price ranges and tell you which companies or agents have the lowest prices. But don't shop price alone.

The insurer you select should offer both fair prices and excellent service. Quality personal service may cost a bit more, but provides added conveniences. Talk to a number of insurers to get a feeling for the quality of their service. Ask them what they would do to lower your costs. Check the financial ratings of the companies too. Then, when you've narrowed the field to three insurers, get price quotes.

#2. ASK FOR HIGHER DEDUCTIBLES.
Deductibles represent the amount of money you pay before you make a claim. By requesting higher deductibles on collision and comprehensive (fire and theft) coverage, you can lower your costs substantially. For example, increasing your deductible from $200 to $500 could reduce your collision cost by 15% to30%.

#3. DROP COLLISION AND/OR COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGES ON OLDERCARS.
It may not be cost-effective to have collision or comprehensive coverages on cars worth less than $1000 because any claim you make would not substantially exceed annual cost and deductible amounts. Auto dealers and banks can tell you the worth of cars.

#4. ELIMINATE DUPLICATE MEDICAL COVERAGES.
If you have adequate health insurance, you may be paying for duplicate medical coverage in your auto policy. In some states, eliminating this coverage could lower your personal injury protection (PIP) cost by up to 40%.

#5. BUY A "LOW PROFILE" CAR.
Before you buy a new or used car, check into insurance costs. Cars that are expensive to repair, or that are favorite targets for thieves, have much higher insurance costs. Write to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 1005 North GlebeRoad, Arlington, VA 22201 and ask for the Highway Loss Data Chart.

#6. CONSIDER AREA INSURANCE COST IF YOU ARE MAKING A MOVE.
Costs tend to be lowest in rural communities and highest in center cities where there is more traffic congestion.

#7. TAKE ADVANTAGE Of LOW MILEAGE DISCOUNTS.
Some companies offer discounts to motorists who drive fewer than a predetermined number of miles a year.

#8. FIND OUT ABOUT AUTOMATIC SEAT BELT OR AIR BAG DISCOUNTS.
You may be able to take advantage of discounts on some coverages if you have automatic seat belts and/or air bags.

9. INQUIRE ABOUT OTHER DISCOUNTS.
Some insurers offer discounts for more than one car, no accidents in three years, drivers over 50 years of age, driver training courses, anti-theft devices, anti-lock brakes and good grades for students.

How long will a windshield chip repair last?

A windshield chip repair could last for a very long time. It depends on several factors, such as How the chip repair was done originally, weather, driving conditions & many other factors. I've seen chips repaired, that have lasted up to 5 years & others that failed within 2-3 months. Most of the time in my experience, the windshield will receive another hit by a rock & break first.

Windshield Chip Repairs, Do they work?

Yes windshield chip repairs work, but not all chips in windshields should or can be fixed. A chip repair (simplified) is placing a liquid resin into the chipped or cracked area & the resin fills in the chip or crack, it doesn't make it disappear it(sometimes it may look liked it disappeared, but its still there). Any chips or crack in the driver's view should never be fixed, the windshield should be replaced. The drivers view basically is considered the area the wiper blade path covers.

Question = " I bought a used car, & the windshield has a haze or film on it, that won't come off. I wash it & then it comes back, what can I do?

Answer = The haze or film is usually from cigarette smoke. That's right either the ex-owner of your car was a smoker or if the haze/film just became a problem someone while driving or riding in your vechicle is smoking. The bad news is your stuck with it, the good there is help.

After 20 years of installing auto glass, I've seen people try everything, with no luck. It always comes back even if the glass is replaced. Why? The smoke gets in the A/C/Heat Filters, the dashboard, headliner, & upholstry. So, when you use your A/C or heater the smoke is recirculated especially on the windshield if you use the defroster.

The Cure is simple but has to be repeated often. First you'll need to get a couple items #1. Paper Towels(thicker, the better), #2. Glass Cleaner(any will work but the best to use is a foaming glass cleaner, comes in a spray can & can be purchased at your local auto supply store), #3. A bottle of Rain-X Anti-Fog. The first step is to wash the interior of the windshield at least twice making sure to remove any/all signs of the haze/film(tip if you can remove the rearview mirror), then take a clean paper towel & apply the Rain-X Anti-Fog to the windshield be sure to keep adding more to the towel & to cover the entire windshield. It seems to work & last longer if you apply a fair amount(don't skimp or soak) Depending on the amount of time you drive & how often the A/C or Heater is used, will determine how often this process will need to be repeated.
